Facebook Live For Everyone And What It Means For Marketers
Yesterday, Mark Zuckerberg announced something big. You may have seen your friends or favorite media outlets broadcasting live video from their pages. Now, Facebook has launched Live Video to the masses.
During Zuckerberg’s Facebook Live Broadcast he explained why this is groundbreaking not only Facebook, but for the world.
“Go Live and feel like you’re really with your friends”
For both brands and personal profiles…
“Facebook Live brings the power to broadcast from a smartphone to anywhere in the world.” According to Zuckerberg.
But why is this a big deal?
As a brand, the race is on for producing engaging content. Marketers have been suggesting for quite some time now that Content is King. With Facebook Live, brands no longer have to worry about spending thousands of dollars on highly produced commercials. They can simply give their audience an inside look at their business as if you’re a customer sitting right inside!
Bringing this capability really disrupts the way that businesses are marketing them-selves. Many of my clients are afraid to get in front of the camera and often default to hiring actors to be in a TV commercial. On social media, people want to see something raw, genuine.
The appeal of Facebook Live is that you are encouraged to share a genuine, personal moments. Examples of this would be sharing a live look at the fireworks at Walt Disney World or a Live DJ at a launch party for a product right as it is happening. For businesses, this capability would allow them to engage with their customers in ways they never have before.
